Adam Ahuja is
an NYC-based keyboardist and multi-instrumentalist artist who
draws jazz, rock, funk, electronic, world and hip-hop styles into a fluid
approach. Performing both solo using live-looping and with his own group,
Adam's music highlights textured harmony, an affinity for groove, singing
and rap vocals, and inspired improvisations.
Adam has performed his original music at venues such as The Blue Note Jazz Club
(NYC) and currently also performs as an international-touring keyboardist in Ana
Popovic Band. Adam is a previous member of Robert Randolph and the Family Band,
having jammed the stage with musicians Kenny Wayne Shepard, Jerry Harrison of
Talking Heads, Questlove of The Roots and others. Adam has contributed as a
studio musician to recordings such as Meatloaf's Hang Cool Teddybear (guitar)
produced by Rob Cavallo of Warner Music Group and has collaborated under Musical
Director Dennis 'Doc' Williams of The O'Jays. Adam holds an Artist Endorsement
with Nord Keyboards. Adam is also the foudner of the Ropeadope Records act
The Flowdown and regularly
plays with labelmates Escaper and Kuf Knotz. Adam can
also currently be heard on the road with Monotronic, a new world-electronic
project out of NYC.
Adam's aim is to approach music more and more in the way that one may speak a
language, or watch a river - at ease in it's natural flow. Ultimately, Adam
plays music to inspire a sense of inner joy, in the hope that this joy can
also inspire others in their own lives. Adam also holds a Master's in Public
Policy from University of Konstanz in Germany and Bachelor's in Management from
Bucknell Univesity, and enjoys a good philosophical conversation every now and then.
"Very exciting live, the writing is impressive and the musicians are at a
very high level."
